Membership Connection Committee

This committee will provide subordinate Districts and Chapters of this Grand Jurisdiction, programs, materials and assistance to promote new member recruiting. This Committee will also develop programs designed to retain current chapter members no longer regularly participating in Chapter activities.

The following is a list of tools for membership and membership retention. Some can be found on the resources page of this web site.

1. Presentation Board - Make your own. Pictures you can use and sample boards will be displayed as they are received.

1. Yellow Pages - Should be individualized for each District to minimize travel costs. They are a list of potential programs that chapters may use at their meetings. Perhaps, one chapter has someone who is an excellent baker and wants to give a program on how to make special decorations. That person's contact information and cost if applicable could be listed in the yellow pages. The Yellow Pages is like the yellow pages of a phone book. The ideas could be from vacations to gardening to Tupperware or Dogs for the Blind. There is a lot of talent out there. These ideas would simply be printed out perhaps on yellow paper and given to each Matron who could share with her line officers. The purpose is to make the District and Chapters more aware of the programs available. We might attract more members to attend our meetings.

1. Star Blazer Pins and stars - Bring in a new member to the Order and receive a Star Blazer Pin. Propose a second or third member and receive a star for each additional new member you bring into our order. Be sure to continue as a mentor and help them become involved with our order.

1. “Masonic Connection” which explains the start of Masonry and Eastern Star.
   1. When it is used, it needs to be edited for Chapter or District use.

Educational Assistance Fund

This Fund provides grants to defray expenses of those in pursuit of a higher education. These grants are available to eligible individuals of all ages. Members of the Eastern Star, their families, and members of the affiliated Youth Groups may apply for these grants. Applications for grants may be obtained from and are to be submitted to Marion G. Kopko , Chairperson of the Educational Assistance Fund Committee. Her contact information may be obtained from an OES Chapter Secretary.

Nursing Scholarship Fund

This fund provides grants of up to $1,000 per year to affiliated and eligible individuals who are enrolled in nurses training programs. The grants are for two to three years as required by the specific nursing programs. Applications are obtained from and submitted to Janet Johnson, Chairperson of the Nursing Scholarship Fund Committee. Her contact information may be obtained from an OES Chapter Secretary.
