Eastern Star Home at Oriskany

The Eastern Star Home is located in Oriskany, New York, 12 miles west of Utica.

It was established in 1915 and through the years has been a symbol of love, concern, and caring. The residents are provided with the highest quality of care, in combination with the love and the true meaning of being part of a wonderful fraternal family.

There are two levels of care offered -

 Health Related for those who need some assitance with the activities of daily living.

Skilled Nursing for those who require full time medical and nursing care.

Guidelines for admission to the Eastern Star Home
1. Any member of the Order of the Eastern Star in the State of New York is eligible for admission.
2. The spouse of a member presently residing in the Eastern Star Home will be admitted.
3. Any resident of Pounder Hall will be granted an automatic transfer.
4. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star in any state will be considered for admission.
5. Relatives of members of the Order of the Eastern Star and Master Masons in good standing will be considered for admission.

Medicare coverage is available and will be pursued at the time of admission for those meeting the criteria. Medicaid coverage is also available once assets have been spent down. Our home also will accept individuals already receiving Medicaid. The same generous and thoughtful care is given to each resident.

All rooms are beautifully furnished but a new resident is encouraged to bring a favorite chair, pictures, a radio, TV, or any special item that will provide comfort and happiness. Personal laundry services are provided by the Housekeeping Department, with soiled items being picked up from the room, washed, dried, and returned to the owner's room. There is a hairdresser available and a nicely stocked Gift Shop for the purchase of cards and small items. Meals are served in the shared dining room and there is accomodation for special/prescribed diets.

The Medical Director visits the Home twice each week. A Dentist's office is available on site, as well as the services of a Podiatrist.

 The Activities Department is active and constantly strives to add to the enjoyment of all. Birthday parties, movies, bingo, trips to local shopping areas and restaurants are part of the program. Arts and crafts classes also provide busy times for those choosing to participate. Life at the Home is augmented by support of active OES members, visitors, and volunteers, who generously respond to the needs of the Home.

Visitors are welcome to the Home between the hours of 9am - 10pm.

Guest rooms for out-of town visitors are available by arrangement.
